Job placement Staffing agencies what is your opinion of them?

I worked for one for 2 years was told id be hired on in 90 days Id make $14.20 per hour. I had perfect attendance I got certified on the job I worked overtime every day and they laid me off after all my hard work. I found a job I really wanted I had to go thru another staffing service my family said go for it the company was a great place to work so today was my first day. I was to work 3rd shift so they gave me a night off to change my sleeping schedule. I stayed up all night went to bed at 7. slept for 1 hour the staffing agency called me said there been a change he wants me to come in asap. He didn't care I had no sleep he said "do you want this job or not" I wanted to say no but I need money Im broke. Last week he said go get a phcical and drug screen he told me when and where. I went straight there the nurse said I missed my appointment I should have been there at 12. How can I get these companies outlawed? Im a hard working American who feels used and taken advantage of.

It's outrageous how they treat people, especially when people tend to go to them when they have no other option. Remember, the staffing company makes money from every hour that you work, so they DON'T want you hired in. They'd rather have the company lay you off so you come back to the staffing company and get placed elsewhere. This has happened to my husband a few times when he has had to use one, and there have been more times than I can count that he has drove 30-45 minutes to get to a job and be sent home because they either don't have work or the staffing company didn't send information.

Hang in there and good luck to you!

Job placement Staffing agencies are businesses to make a profit. Objective: they provide a service(referrals) to third parties for a contract fee(usually paid by the person getting a job). Bottom line: there's no guarantee that you'll be working indefinitely, getting the royal treatment, depending on the business place, they can let you go, or you can quit @ anytime, there's no such thing as human feelings in the business world, you work if you want to. Good luck

Many are unethical.

On the other hand I work as a professional and got a very good job through a legal staffing agency. They even negotiated a higher salary for me.

Where I live, in Arkansas, they are even worse. The big companies here (Monroe shock absorbers and Emerson, washing machine motors) own their staffing services. They are really good at excuses about how they aren't hiring "right now" after you complete your 90 days. They pay barely over minimum wage and keep you there until you get fed up and quit.
