Are you supposed to take resume's to a hospital's open house for nurses. (I'm assuming it's like a job fair?)

I am planning on going to this, but I don't want to walk around with a folder full of references and resumes if everyone else isn't. When you apply online (which is required) you submit your resume, which is why I'm unsure. Thank you

Bring it. It can't hurt. As far as everyone else without one, they'll feel stupid when they see you with yours and they forgot theres.

You should take them. If you are the only one you will be even more memorable because of it.

I would bring multiple copies.

Take along photocopies of your resume and your certifications. It can't hurt. If someone there gets interested in you, you want to be able to put your information in their hands right then. A big purse or light briefcase with a shoulder strap is good to have because you can put your folder and whatever else in it and not walk around with a sheaf of papers in your hand.

If it's a job fair thing then you need to go armed with a few resumes. Go ahead and apply online. But take a tote bag, one that a folder holding a number of copies will slip down into. With the Internet being what it is, and those resumes going off into 'some black hole' like they do, it's always nice to be able to put a face to face copy in the hands of a prospective employer. Putting your name in front of them twice never did any harm.

If the proper ettiquet is to file online and you KNOW that, then do that.

An open house for nurses is JUST that, a method of permitting you to get a look at their facilities, ask question, and get familiar with the people. No pressure on your part, AND NO PRESSURE FROM YOU EITHER.

Ask questions that interest YOU, salary, hours, training, benifits, time off, staffing levels, on call requirements, overtime, PDO days (personal days off) and so on.

If you see/hear something you like, you then know the method for applying. OH! DON'T forget to get names and business cards from them. It is a great way to start a cover letter if you do decide to apply online.

And ONE other thing, don't go in all "starched whites" (GAWD!! do I rememebr my convalesent days) but TRY to wear something small, colorful, and or memorable (like a "Save the Nurses" ribbon.) It will subconsciencely cause them to remember you later.
