What are some places besides nursing homes where CNAs can work? |
I was certified as a CNA just a little less than a year ago. Hospitals use CNA's on their medical/surgical units. Also Home heath care and hospice services use CNA's Almost all hospitals hire CNA's. Also, companies that send people to sick or elderly patients homes for home care use CNA"s. look into your state's credentials for Home Health, It use to be a 40 hour class. But times may have changed. Home Health offers more flexible hours. I was signed up with 4 different staffing companies and picked and chose my jobs, Show interest in a certain field and get continuing ed on it. Mine was psych and rehabilitation (strokes). I ended up going into nursing school and could have had financial help from a few of the companies if I would agree to sign a work contract with them. Nursing is in Huge demand, home health along with Hospitals. Pros of Hospitals, you will have insurance and security, cons you work their hours. Pros of Home health, you chose your hours, cons, no insurance, not as much security Best of luck to you You can work in Cila homes or group homes. It can be somewhat like a nursing home, but not all residents require that much care and you are not required to care for that many individuals. A cila home usually houses 8 individuals. There are also ICFDD's usually consist of 16 individuals. How about home health or as a companion/sitter for elderly or home bound individuals? You may want to try personal care homes and assisted living facilities. Although some states do not require them, it is up to the discretion of the facilities whether or not to employ them. |
