Isn't anyone else aware of how poorly our contiual care (NURSING HOMES) for our disabled/eldery is?

i do private transports- i transport people from long care nursing homes and "rehabilitation" centers- (and i know that most other private transport emt's that read this will say "you just haven't been doing it long enough") but honestly- do you know how horrible it is most seniors/disabled folks that live in a nursing home? do you know what goes on in there?
I can't even descibe how crappy and heart breaking it is to see some of the little old people getting cared for by some of the most underpaid/uncaring people you can find, and most of the time didn't even grow up in this country, so they have completly different outlooks on death and dying drastically different from an american view.
Do you know when the nursing homes call 911 they have to make a report to the state? so most of time they don't bother with it, they just call a private service ambulance.I cant report this stuff-because NOBODY does, and if i do, i would end up losing my job. if you are in job like this let me know

it is the industry as a whole- no doubt about it folks. i really want to start a big movement/ awarness type effort on this, because it's just sad. I'm not one for socialized health care though, so idon't know how to even begin.

And still no one believes that we are already in Hell. I know situations as bad as these and worse.

If you want others to know, the best thing to do is to document, take pictures, and send them to different political officials and the press.

Be sure you do this low-key becuase you would be a whistle blower.

Some of what you described is sadly standard industry practice.

Report it. They can't fire you (it's illegal) unless you're lying. People really don't care. Reimbursement rates for those places are really low. Insurance companies don't care.
