Nursing options?

I am 47yrs. I am a caretaker for my terminally ill wife [Huntington's Disease] I am looking to enter the nursing feild to help me care for her. I had to leave my job of 14 yrs. to care for her and I am raising an 8yr. old daughter. We are getting very low on funds as S.S.I. only pays $623.00 per month to her. What would be my best options? We live in Mi.

Other than getting SSI, have you tried getting something like In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) for your wife? This is what it's called in California and here is information about it:

Perhaps MI has a similar program?

As for nursing, here's a website for online degrees (I do not know whether any of the schools that offer it are accredited):

The best option (and probably the least expensive) is to see if your local community college offers "programs in nursing education that include Vocational Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing/Registered Nursing (ADN/RN). The vocational nursing program is approved by the Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians and the ADN program is approved by the Board of Registered Nurses and National League for Nursing."

Here is a community college in MI which has a nursing department but I am not sure how close it is to you:
