What was the best job you had in your life and why?

Do any of you have a similar story? While I loved working in the nursing homes when I was younger , I found that the job does not matter as much as the people you work with. My favorite jobs were because the people I worked with were so kind, so honest and decent. The worst jobs I found were when there is one or more individuals who exert a complete lack of honesty, are cold hearted and cheat, in addition , they cheat and excel because they can get away with it, always at the cost of the most honest of people. I think the most important decision is not necessarily the career you choose, but deciding what type of people you want to be around 40 + hours a week.

It wasn't the people that made my favorite job of all time a favorite. In fact, the people I worked with were pretty terrible people.

The best job I ever had was an adoption counselor at an animal shelter. Yeah, the pay was terrible and a lot of the people I worked with weren't there because they cared about animals (more like they couldn't get hired anywhere else). And it was heartbreaking to see the condition of some of the animals that came in (really makes you wonder how incredibly evil a person can be).

There's nothing that could compare to that feeling I'd get when a dog would finally come around, even after a lifetime of abuse, and start to trust me. Finding good homes for the animals made it all worthwhile too.

Then again, I've always gotten along with animals better than people anyways. But yeah, I agree...the people you work with do have a big impact on whether you stick with a job or not. No matter how much I loved the work I was doing, I still quit my dream job because my manager was too parasitic for me.

I'm still looking for the best job of my life. I've worked food service industry, managerial, administrative, clerical, daycare, construction, and telemarketing. The magic job of happiness is just around the corner, I can feel it. My quest will not end till I find it. When I finally find it I will let you know just before I retire.

The best job I had was garbageman. 800 a week plus all you can eat.

Seriously. I like being a deliveryman. Nobody around to bother you. Most customers, are thrilled to see you, and the pay's not bad.

i agree but life also has to be somewhat about money. so sometimes the best jobs are the ones that pay well and do little. unfortantly i have had to work hard and make very little money. ok i am doing it now min. wage in a small dress shop . i deal with mainly older women and we know our customers very well and alot are lonely and they know they can come and we are friendly and they don't feel pressure to buy nothing they can come and stay as long as they like . but i need $ and will have to quit one day soon but the customers always say we look like were just hanging out and having a good time.

I now have the best job I have ever had in my life. I have a home business in the health and wellness industry that fulfills all of my needs. I have always been the type that wants to help people and sometimes it even got me in trouble. I thought there must be a way for me to earn a living doing what I love to do.
Then this business dropped in my lap and I have never looked back. I help people with a vast array of health issues and show them how to become financially independent. I choose who I work with, can work in my pajamas, can go out and meet new people, get training from the most successful people I have ever met and travel a great deal, only because it's my passion.
One of the things I also love about it is that there are no cheats or people stepping on other people to get ahead. I have never worked in a kinder more compassionate environment.
