Hi All I am a Nurse That Has Just Been Offered A Job and I need your help????

A Pharmacy has Offered me a job as their Diabetes Rep. I would be there to work with diabetes patients that had questions or conserns about their disease. Can you All give Me a Few Ideas What Kind of things Patients might like for me to have on hand or Info that would be helpful to them

Free samples are always nice.

google it and you will find many

I think people might like to be able to "test drive" glucometers before they buy one, maybe an info sheet with tips and tricks to make managing the diabetes easier (or at least less annoying). Maybe if the pharmacy would let you, have oranges on hand so patients could practice giving shots to get more comfortable with them. (That's how I learned, only I learned at the hospital.)

That's all I can think of right now.

are you a CDE? If you were you wouldn't be asking.

So, I'd suggest becoming a CDE of course.

Don't know what it is? You'd better not take the job.

Just read the health forums on yahoo answers and you will have a large variety of questions.

Good stuff to have on hand are food portion examples. Little plastic look like foods to help patients visualize portions. Also, charts that can be copied of some of the common restaurants and how many carbs are in each portion. Other things would be to let them know how much exercise can help to control blood sugar and always having the latest data on ways to help control blood sugar and new insulins coming out.

You are a nurse and was not trained how to take care of diabetic patients. I doubt your veracity.
