I am looking for some advice on quitting my job!? |
I am wanting to quit my job but don't know how to break it to my boss.I am a nurse and work in a doctors office, it is highly stressful and we have been way understaffed for some time now, I really like everyone I work with but am worried about the burden I will leave them if I leave, I have alot going on in my personal life and to be honest I am really starting to think twice about changing careers completely, I have made my self so sick over wanting to quit and how to do it, I am willing to give them almost 8 weeks notice but again worried about their reaction and what they will think of me. I am a very loyal employee and have done the very best I can but I am certain it is time for me to leave, I have worked there alittle over 2yrs. andit was my 1st job working as a nurse, i was hired as just a temp, and extra nurse to have on staff, now i am full time. I new when I took the position that it would be difficult & stressful but I didn't realize what affect it would actually have on me Give them their two weeks' notice, don't try to be a 'nice person' and give them eight weeks' notice. (I've seen that backfire on more than one person!) Start looking for a job in an office where you'll enjoy going to work. sweetie, it sounds like you have made up your mind, you are not going to be happy if you stay there. You have to look out for yourself, and you giving them 8 weeks notice is more than plenty of time for them to find a replacement. i used to make myself sick over situations, but the fact of the matter is that you have to move on. you will and dont Worry, do what makes you happy, they will find a replacment. good luck. everything is going to be fine! Look for another position (either in the field or out of it, if you want). Find a good place to work and then give your notice. Has it occurred to you that they should have staffed the office properly by hiring more staff ages ago? Greetings and Peace to you maaman. You should pat yourself on your back for having the heart to care. Your employer hired you for honest hard work they paid you and you are loyal. Professionally you need to go and personally for you go in peace. If your intention are switching career, just do it! You don't own your boss a thing. He pay you, you work for him that all. It great of you to think for other 1st, but will your boss think of your future 1st. No! He just want someone to fit in that post & expand his business. If you think he have shortage of staff you are wrong again! That none of your business cause if he setup a business he should know how to handle it. If you like the people around there keep in touch with them even if you quit. Two weeks notice is really more than enough time for your employer to find a replacement. If your employer wants a little more time then you can extend it. |
