Is being a nurses aide a good job and does it pay good?

Is being a nurses aide a good job and does it pay good?

Nursing aide jobs:
Good parts:
Aides often develop ongoing relationships with nursing home residents since they can work with them for months or years.
According to the US Dept of Labor, numerous job openings and excellent job opportunities are expected.

Bad parts:
Aides often have unpleasant duties, such as emptying bedpans and changing soiled bed linens. The patients they care for may be disoriented, irritable, or uncooperative.
According to the US Dept of Labor, low pay, high physical and emotional demands, and lack of advancement opportunities characterize this job.

Pay: Not good. The average hourly earnings of nursing aides, orderlies, and attendants were $10.09 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $8.59 and $12.09 an hour. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $7.31, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $14.02 an hour.

The average hourly earnings in the industries employing the largest numbers of nursing aides, orderlies, and attendants in May 2004 were as follows:
Employment services: $11.29
Local government: $11.10
General medical and surgical hospitals: $10.44
Nursing care facilities: $9.86
Community care facilities for the elderly: $9.56

Good luck!

It's a good job that pays more than minimum. If you pick the right hospital you can have insurance benefits as well.

Might be something to do when you were young, but wouldnt think it would be enough to make a career out of.
Depending on where you would work, probably around 8-10 bucks an hour.

For the person who said, the RN pays 500 bucks a day....That would be 130 grand a year. Unless you become a Nurse practitioner and run your own clinic, you wouldnt make that much. And a regular RN takes 4 years of college. A regular RN probably makes between 30-50 grand a year.
A Nurse Practitioner would be an RN with her masters in nursing. 6-7 years of college. A LPN would be two years of nursing school.

its one of the most thankless crappy jobs ever i would suggest you get your RN which pays 500$$ a day after 2 years of school
