Are you a Nurse that loves your job? What do you do?

I work in a SNF. Its getting old.

I love my job and I work at a SNF.I am a charge nurse taking care of 32 rambunctious elders
.I give medicines and smiles.
I inform Mds of condition changes.I write and received physicians orders
Documentation is a big part of my day.I serve as a cheerleader(for encouraging elders during rehab); I listen (social worker), support families and residents..and provide a safe environment..

Even though I am a nurse; i provide many services just like you do.Remember we (nurses) are all some residents have to care for and about them. I encourage you to find a support group for caregivers.and be good to yourself.

I love nurses :)

yes, i do.i am now currently working in ICU department.

When I first became a nurse I was somewhat disappointed at the lack of time I was able to spend with patients versus the amount of time I had to spend doing paperwork, but I have since come to the realization that even if I only have a few minutes to spend with each patient I was going to do all I could to make each minute count and show my patients I wasn't only there to give out medicine, but to offer emotional and spiritual support. I currently am working at a new job on a med-surge oncology unit and I love it. I have met some of the most courageous patients and no matter how much they are hurting and afraid , they stay upbeat and positive. I have many opportunities each day to be not only a nurse, but a friend towards my patients and no matter how much paperwork I have to do , I make sure I keep in the front of my mind I came into nursing because I wanted to take care of people and make them feel better and no amount of paperwork is going to interfere with that. I love my job and I thank God for blessing me with it.
