Any advice for a CNA going to a job fair on Tuesday? |
I have been working as a CNA since Dec. and have been certified since Nov. I'm 23 and the job I have now at a nursing home is the only job in health care I have ever had. I found out about a job fair that is being held Tues. at a hospital in my area. It is a large hospital system. They employ about 7,600 people. I have already put in 5 applications with no luck. They only want CNAs that have experience. I hoping that 9 months will be enough and this job fair will be my chance to get in. I think anything over 6 months is sufficient experience for a hospital. Some require 12 months, but they are the minority. Definitely bring a resume. A cover letter stating why you want to work for them would also be good. When you are at the job fair, appear confident and offer a handshake as you approach them. Practice possible interview questions. I think that 9 months experience should be an adequate amount of time. Yes yo should prepare a resume and a cover letter stating your interest in working for the hospital. An objective attention getter would be something like "I would like to be given the chance to better the skills training and knowledge that I have". As far as clothing find something nice to wear a pair of slacks and a blouse or check at your local Family Dollar Store or Wal Mart about purchasing a nice set of scrubs they are fairly reasonable there. |
