Does anyone know if the nursing program is trully time consuming?? how time consuming is it?? help!? |
i need to know because i was just admitted to the program, and i need to find out if i can still have a job and do the nursing program at the same time with some ease?? I'm going into nursing school this fall too, and from talking to others, if you've got it together and don't have too much along the lines of family committments you can probably work part time. Most say it is impossible to work full time, but I've known some who have done it. Those who can pull it off are usually single with little need for sleep. My philosophy in life is that you can do what you have to. You'll work it out. Good luck! Depends where you're going, but yeah its hardcore. My mom and I actually graduated at the same time. She had like 30 years of Pt care (HHA, PCA, whatnot) and still had to put in tons of effort. But I'll bet if you got in you're a smart cookie and you'll find a way! I am in my college's Nursing Program, and so far I haven't had any trouble. The first two years are just basics, at least they are where I go. I have maintained my job and spent considerable amount of time with friends. The last two years are said to be a lot more difficult, but if you are really dedicated and hardworking, you should be ok. Just keep in mind, it may be difficult, but it will definitely pay off in the end. I worked while I was in school but I was young, got no sleep, and had a very flexible job and was already in the medical profession so I didn't need to study as hard as some did. The hardest part is when you start clinical rotations and have to be at the hospital. Some schools also limit the amount of time you can work also. You should do an online course if you have limited time. Please try: http://www.nursingmasters.com They have lots of good information on various nursing degrees both Bachelors and Masters I am in nursing school and I work 24 hours a week. Our program at california state university, Long Beach is tough and while some people struggle more than others, I think it is do - able. You just have to be prioritized and give up more free time. Also, I'm in school with a guy who works 3 twelve hours shifts in one week (night shifts 7p-7a) and he is one of the top in the class (he has experience as an EMT). So, you can do it, but if you want to be less stressed and have more free time, dont. |
