Is being a med-surge nurse a good job?

Yes especially if you are a new nurse and want to experience taking care of a mixed variety of patients. I started of in med surg telemetry when i started nursing and it gave me a good foundation to move on to intensive care. You have to learn to multi task and be very organized but its well worth it for the experience.

Nurses are in high demand right now, especially in CA. I work at a hospital and we are constantly recruiting for nurses from around the country and in Canada. The pay is excellent for the amount of training you need.

That being said, my understanding is that you can't automatically get into the exact position you want right away and may have to have other nursing positions until one opens up.
