I'm thinking about getting a job at my Local Nursing Home. What do you think?

I believe the elderly should be taken care of. I do not want any rude answers. I just think this would be a great start and great experience if I want to further my career in the medical field. I just want your opinions on that. Thanks for the serious posters, I appreciate it.

It is not what we think but what you think and how you feel how dealing with the elderly and those who are mentally incapable of caring for themselves. Remember you may be the only kind face that person ever sees. I have worked in the medical field many years and have always said that working with children and the elderly are very much the same and God Bless those who do, as it does take special people to do both. Good luck.

I think its wonderful, elderly people are knowledgable and a lot can be learned when you spend time with them. Report It

You will never know until you try.

Euthanasia is a better alternative to nursing homes. We give or pets mercy when there's nothing left to do but die, but prolong our parent's and grandparent's death like we enjoy their suffering.

My real job was at a nursing home. I was a dietary aid. The guys were porters. I really liked it.

The pay is usually good (depending upon your experience/accredations) and benefits also, but it is also HARD work...there is a lot of physical endurance involved, as well as keeping in mind that you will be caring for people who cannot take care of themselves. If you are not squeamish then go for it, it is a very fulfilling field. Good Luck!

It depends on what job you are doing-nursing assistants work the hardest and get paid the least!

Well I think it is pretty kool I personaly dont think there is anything wrong with it...some people might thow just dont listen to them. :)

It is challenging work, but whatever you do, please be kind to the elderly. They have been horrifically abandoned in this culture/society and need sensitivity and gentleness.

i think you should
even though your a guy
you should go for it
just like girls can play sports guys can,
guys can have jobs girls can
so if your worried about being embarassed
i dont think you should be
so what im tryin to say is.......go for it!! :)
