Job question. friend had situation @ her job wants advice. she works @ a nursing home as a nurse aide.?

she has in the recent past gotten in trouble 4 spending a lot of time talking 2 the receptionist on duty. abt a month ago she was told that if it happened again shed be fired. since then has improved. so anyways, the other night @ work she was sitting w/ the receptionist 4 abt 15 minutes, both on the phone w/ her husband (five minutes) & the rest of the time calling 2 remind her patients of dinner, ect. @ this point 1 of the patients called 4 help 2 get up, but she is pregnant & dr says she can only lift 25 lbs. she told other worker that was there w/ her that she could help her w/ the patient, but not lift her. the other worker then started yelling, saying what the hell good r u then, ur going 2 get fired from ur job if u cant lift...when she said that she could still help just not lift, the other girl said get the hell out of here. girl then called boss, 2 tell abt her sitting. even tho most was spent working. friend worried abt losing job, but also mad that girl yelled @ her.

so then my friend & girl didnt talk anymore just ignored each other. my friend went on lunch & the girl came in 2 yell @ her again! calling her stupid lazy right in front of a nurse who just sat there. so then my friend tried 2 call boss 2 tell her other girl wouldnt leave her alone. no answer so left message. my friend very upset abt girl accusing her of spending 20+ mins @ desk so wrote boss letter explaining her accusations were untrue, & that the girl kept yelling @ her. sorry so long! what friend wants to know is should she be worried?? & shouldnt the other girl get in trouble 4 yelling @ her? oh, one more thing. boss said shed handle it tuesday but she was working today and so was friend and no one said anything to her. friend was too afraid to mention it. wants to know opinions suggestions advice- if her job is at stake, if she should drop it, if the girl who yelled at her should get in trouble. far as dropping it the girl said she would not work w/ friend anymore so what then?

Your friend is fired because regardless of whatever sorry excuse she told you and you try and lay out here....failed to heed the warning.

Gee...no job and a kid on the way. How regretful. How careless. How foolish.

And you defend this? Shame on you. In fact...pack your bags. You're fired too.

Please tell your "friend" that she needs better communication with her management

sounds like friend is trying to find excuses not to work. no help for people who don't wish to help themselves..

Has your friend worked at the facility past her probationary period? If so, then your friend may have some rights. I am assuming that your friend is being seen by a doctor since she is pregnant and has had her doctor send a note stating her limitations. Since she is under a doctor's care, I don't see how she can be fired. They may try to make her take her maternity leave early, or put her on light duty. The other woman had no reason to yell at her and I would NOT tolerate that for 1 minute!

friend needs to be written up for causing a scene at workand the other person needs to look for another job where they can be respected

Not that your issue isn't important, but what the heck does it have to do with marriage and divorce?

friend should stay away from girl and dont worry just dont get in trouble with the talking thing. tell u the truth that girl has issues go to work tell your boss again if the girl does it again/

sounds like it was s little bit more than this one incident with your friend and this co worker, and yes if your friend has been warned about her job performance i would be worried and if i were her i would do my best to do better. the woman should have taken your friend aside and spoken to her about any problems she was having not yelled at her in public. they should excuse her from heavy lifting but usually they find reasons to get rid of people who can't perform their job, no matter what the reason is.

She needs to talk to the supervisor about this. The fighting and yelling is not good on any job. The people in a nursing home depend on them to do their job. If her Doctor said no lifting then there is allot of other things that she can do in a nursing home.

That's the best advice for her.
If a lawyer cannot change that decision it may have been justified.Tell her to talk to a lawyer and start the wrongful termination case.

This happened to me when I worked in a nursing home, the work load is just too heavy for a pregnant woman, I knew I had it, after one morning I got kicked by a patient on my stomach, I was about 7 month pregnant. I must had abou 20 patients per day, when you should only have 5 pts per shift legally. I quit after that day. She shouldn't wait until she get fired she should quickly find another job before they fire her.

Post this in the right section and you may get some answers.
