Is nursing a hardworking job?

Is nursing a hardworking job?

Yes it is but it also pays well depending on your specialty.

yes because it deals with people who needs care and attention, so there's a lot responsibility involved

Nursing can be difficult. It's not for a lazy person! Nurses are frequently understaffed and overworked, but if that's what you want to do, it is absolutely the most rewarding job you'll ever have.

If you're interested in nursing, there are many specialties that you can pursue. You can work "on the floors" taking care of the patients who are in the hospital, or you can work in procedure areas where you typically take care of one patient at a time and assist in their procedures. Most nurses find that they really enjoy working in a few particular areas but have no interest in other areas.

There are also other careers in health care besides nursing. You can choose a career as an x-ray or lab tech, a surgical tech (my specialty), or other careers too numerous to mention.

That being said, people are sick around the clock. Many jobs in a hospital require that you work weekends and holidays, and many jobs require that you take call. A lot of people work in a hospital first, then use that as a stepping stone to a job in a doctor's office or outpatient setting such as a surgery center.

If you want to check out the careers that are available, I'd suggest getting a catalog to a nearby university as well as looking into the classes that are offered by your local vocational school. If you're interested in "tech" jobs, they'll be covered in the Allied Health portion of the catalog.

In my department alone, we have pre-op and post op nurses, OR nurses and surgical techs, endoscopy nurses and techs, SPD (supply, processing, and decontamination) techs, pre-admission testing nurses, and of course, the charge nurse and OR director are also nurses. Nurses with an advanced degree work as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). CRNAs frequently work under the direction of an anesthesiologist (doctor), but they give anesthesia and they're responsible for the patients during surgery or procedures.

The choices are endless!
