Nursing, a good job?

would you say nursing is a good job?
im interested in children and everything it involves but whats the pay like?

Nursing is an excellent career and without them we would be lost, but the government know this and keep their wages low in comparison to other services as they know that the nurses won`t go on strike.
The money that the management get should be halved and redistributed to the girls and services at the sharp end.

Dont nurses do it for the pay or to have a handy number!!
In fact dont know why anyone would be a nurse but thank god some people are'nt motivated by money

Nursing is one of the hottest jobs here right now because there is already a nurse shortage and the demand is expected to skyrocket in the next 10 years as the baby-boom-ers get to retirement age. In California, signing bonuses (up front-before you even work a day) of $20,000. to $50,000. are regularly advertised to lure nurses into the smaller cities.

If you enjoy helping people you'll enjoy nursing and your timing couldn't be better if you were in the U.S. I would think some of the same demand factors would be in place in the U.K. and Ireland even though our medical systems are vastly different.

If I were in your shoes I'd go be a wallflower at a pub or coffeehouse near a hospital in your area for a weekend. You'd meet people and get the local lay of the land as well. Best of luck in your quest!

Nursing is a very good job. Hospitals are need of nurses, it pays well and you will ALWAYS have a job. Job security is important. Go for it, good luck!
