Pay is good because there's a shortage of nurses especially in retirement states like Florida. It involves 4 years of school and a passing score on the state board exam to become an RN (registered nurse). Some hospitals require a master's degree which is another 2 years of school. The work is hard. You're on your feet all day, tending patients, taking vitals, dispensing meds, etc. If you specialize you could be an operating room/scrub nurse, an OB nurse, etc. Nurses also work in doctor's offices, schools, corporations, military, nursing facilities, Red Cross, etc.

OMG the pay sucks unless you go for travel nursing or just happen to live in a larger city, otherwise the hospitals take advantage of nurses and pay most of other other areas, such as therapy much better! Report It

Depending where you are at, you can get a nursing degree in 2 years. There are associate's degrees in nursing and bachelor's degrees in nursing. A BSN will be paid more. And nursing is not just bed pans, sponge baths, etc. It depends what your area of specialty will be. You can be a neonatal nurse, a rehab nurse, an emergency room nurse... every area is something different. It's great pay and nurses are in high demand. Go for it.
