If a Licensed Practical Nurse gets a felony charge unrelated to her nursing job can she keep her license?

The crime was commited prior to obtaining her nursing license and her current employer is aware of the felony charge and is willing to keep her as an employee as long as her license is not suspended. Does anyone know if on the day you are considered a convicted felon in the state of IL do you keep your nursing license until it is reviewed by the nursing board? Do you have to notify the board of your conviction? Any information available about this will be helpful. I have looked at the state website but an unable to find answers to these specific questions....

Her attorney was asked along with her probation officer on Friday, however neither are familiar with how this process works. She was told to contact the Nursing Board on Monday but we are trying to get a better understanding of the rules and procedures before then so that we may prepare ourselves.

I'm an LPN in Pa.To my knowledge,at least in my state,an LPN can lose their license for any felony conviction.I've seen people lose their license over minor things that had nothing at all to do with work, and then I've seen other people get away with things that they should have lost their license for,but didn't.
It all depends on the decision of the state board and how severe they think the charge is and will it interfere with the person's character at work.
A nurses character is very important to the state board,an embezzlement charge may ,in their opinion, show that nurse as having a bad character.
There really is no easy answer, they evaluate each case as it comes to them.I don't know if you have to report it to them, but they can easily find out about any convictions.
Good Luck.

Why are you not asking a lawyer these questions? They are more qualified than anyone here.

In most states convicted felons aren't allowed to work in any type of health care setting.

It the felony relates to crimes against persons, then you will lose your license, in this state anyway. Any healthcare occupation will be terminated when you commit an assault-related crime. If it's like theft, or tax evasion, or maybe even DUI, you might still retain your license. If you punch someone in the face, or maybe armed-robbery, the license is gone.
