Nursing management for any fever?

Nursing management for any fever?

check the temperature 1st.
if the temperature is below 38 deg: apply cold compress on various areas such as the forehead, armpoint, groin

if temperature is above 38 deg: do tepid sponging. n PLZ USE TAP WATER. sponge the patient for about 10mins (stop when the patient is shivering) and place towels on the various areas that i've mentioned above.

A tepid wash (IE:warm water not cold..cold makes you shiver and increases temperature further.) Paracetamol to bring down the temperature and go to the doctors :)

take tylenol dont take fever medicine till the fever gets at least 101 fever fights the infection

Cold and flu tab's

Acetomenophen for children with high fever as aspirin can cause Rea's syndrome. Bathing with tap water as said before in these answers. To lower fever fast as in febrile convulsions, enemas are very effective administered in the tub by cather in anus with in and out flow. Adults above 18 can use aspirin. Ibuprofen can also be used in children and adults.

It all depends on how high the fever is actually. If it's a mild fever 100 degrees F, take tylenol (follow directions on bottle and don't overdo it, it can cause liver damage), if it's over 101F, I would suggest seeing a physician. You might have an infection that is causing the fever and need antibiotics. If the person experiencing the fever is a child, make sure no aspirin is given since it can cause Rey's syndrome and other possible side effects. If there are other symptoms, such as nausea or vomiting, you probably need a doctor.

You actually don't need to take anything for a fever. Internal body temperture rises to kill viruses because they are heat sensitive. A fever should only be treated it lasts for more than 2-3 days or rises above 105 degrees.
