The importance of psychology in nursing practice? |
The importance of psychology in nursing practice? Empathy for the patient. to enable you as a practioner to have greater insight to human behaviour and responses in different situations. Some basic knowledge of psychology is a good life skill. Its a very wide subject, and more often than not common sense is a good a guide as any. You may need to know it to understand what the experts are going on about. It is all part of understanding how people work, and as important as knowing parts of the body or names of medicines. You are working on the front line so to say, with people in a stressful situation. Some may become confused and institutionalised while ill in hospital or receiving care. the brain and the body come in one package one effects you dont need it. the government did a study that the longer anyone studies psychology, the less effective they are able to fix anyone. well i dont know if another study has been done to change that. Psychology is very important in nursing in order do you job properly. There are some nurses who lack basic interaction skills, I have seen in it. I wonder how they become a nurse lol. Empathy and and understanding emotional processes is VERY important. To arm myself against the sheer insanity of the beauracratic bitchiness of all the embittered nasty women I have to work with, especially all those in middle management who have never stepped foot on the ward and make it almost impossible for me to treat a patient, and the nastiness of old auxilliaries who are jealous they did not do anything with their lives and take it out on student nurses who technically outrank them! |
