Good observational skills. Your nursing assessment begins with a visual inspection of the patient. With a properly done visual you will not need to read the patent's chart.

Communication skills. Not only with regards to communicating complicated medical procedures with the patient and family but how to talk with your fellow nursing, medical, pharmacy, etc... colleagues.

Most important
You need to know who you are and not just who you are as a nurse but as a person. Be honest with what you are willing and able to do. Learn not only what you are good at but what you are not good at.
