Question About Unassisted Childbirth!!! ( If your going to be rude dont bother)? |
I am interested in having my sencond child Unassisted and was wondering the website that I was on said With no one shouting commands at her, a woman is free to relax, and naturally birth her baby. After the birth, there is no one there to separate her from her baby. She can hold and nurse him as long as she wishes. Women all over the world are rediscovering the fact that birth works best when it is interfered with least. CONGRATULATIONS! It is great that you want to have an unassisted childbirth! The concern I have with unassisted childbirth is what happens in an emergency? Things can go wrong very easily and what are you going to do if they do? If the cord is not removed properly and promptly the baby will bleed out through it and all its blood supply will filter through the mother again. The baby will hemmorrage to death. That is why the cord is quickly clamped and cut. from what i remember when i had my son 14 months ago, they have to clamp the cord with two clamps then cut in between. If you are interested in doing this for your labour, there are plenty of sites you could go to or the better option, ask a doctor or midwife for advice on all the little details. Make sure though if you do this, that help isn't far away, as there are so many things that can go wrong during and after the delivery, that can become life threatening. When i had my son, i had a very very bad bleed after the placenta was delivered. If it was only the midwives there delivering my son instead of midwives and my ob/gyn, i probably would have been in a very bad way. I lost a litre of blood when my cervix collapsed. As nice as the thought is having unassisted childbirth, there are just too many things to go wrong. You might be lucky and have a perfect labour and delivery, or you could be like me and end up in a bad way. Sorry to sound all doom and gloom on you, but these are the realities that face us every day when we have babies. I think that would be too dangerous. You never know if something may go wrong and you do not want to put your child's life in danger (nor your own). My son Alexander was born at home, I'm a trained first aider with CPR there was also a stack of books read before I assisted with the delivery. Make sure you have competent help and definitely do it at home because it's way better. You will need string, scissors and one of those squeeze bulbs to clear the nose/throat plus a large container to discharge the placenta into. No it does not happen by itself,it must be cut.More importantly,it must be cut in the proper place otherwise the mother and child could bleed to death. If you want to have the most natural birth possible but without taking medical risks perhaps using a midwife would suit you.In some states Midwives can/ will assist in home birthing and are Medically trained to handle any life threatening emergencies that may arise during the delivery process.I wouldn't advise anyone to give birth completely alone, that is without someone with medical knowledge and training aboard.Keep in mind that not all births go as naturally as they are suppose to.Sometimes the baby turns around at the last minute and may be breech. It may get caught in the vagina canal with the cord wrapped around it's neck or the afterbirth(placental)may not detach itself as it is suppose to which without assistance, would cause the mother to bleed to death. These are the kinds of things that caused mother or child or both to die in childbirth in the good ole' days and the women who survived childbirth that were left to bury their babies wished they could have had the kind of interference you speak of.So I encourage you to take all into consideration before you make your decision. First Off I am not going to be rude BUT Please do not attempt unassisted childbirth. So many things can go wrong. My first child has his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. The doctors could tell something was wrong because every time I contracted the baby's heart rate dropped. Hi there, I suggest you check out birthjunkie.com. they have a great site centred around Unassisted births and Midwife assisted. Im glad that you asked. Im also interested in UC. You usually wait an hour after the baby is born, when the cord goes white and all the blood goes to the baby that you should cut the cord. Some women leave it on and it just falls off after 5 days..or so.It is called a Lotus birth(look it up) many women in the past centuries have done it when they didnt have scissors....You can definately get more information on this website: http://www.unassistedchildbirth.com/ I hope it helps. There are women there that can explain it for you better..Right now, I am trying to get enough information as I can..Take care and best wishes! |
