Im 38 weeks along tomorrow, and was wondering if sharp pain in the pelvic region was normal?

It starts out with tons of pelvic pressure, bottom portion of womb, then it turns into sharp pain for a couple seconds, then goes away, then comes back for a bit, and goes away. The uterus does not get hard at all anytime, before, during or after this process.

This happens occassionally, maybe once everyday. Im thinking this isnt normal, so im asking now before i talk to a nurse in the morning.

Any ideas?

I have had four children, I am not doctor or nurse. But in my experience, sharp pains in your groin, especially this close to your delivery is normal. You will have sharp pains up your crotch, up your bum, and sometimes it may feel stabbing. Most of these symptoms occur when the baby is moving. If you have any bleeding or difference in discharge, call you doc or the nurse. If you notice a significant drop in your baby's movements, call your doc. You body is preparing itself for the big event. Best wishes on a happy healthy new baby!

Hi, Are you having Braxton-Hicks contractions too? Are these different? You should be experiencing them, but they usually will tighten your uterus. It might be more likely round ligament pain. I would get sharp pains that would almost double me over, kinda on the side of the uterus, lower part. My doc said that the round ligaments that support the uterus were being stretched and sadly, there's not much you can do about the pains. However, they disappear the instant you have the baby!
