Why do i pass out when giving blood? |
Today i had to have a blood test, everything went fine until a couple of minutes later after it had been complete then my vision went all white blurred and i could see flashes of lightning, then i couldnt speak, the nurse said my face went all white The same happens to me, I have no probs giving blood (use to be a donor and Im a nurse!) but if I give a blood sample sitting up it always makes me grey out. Its partly a psychological reaction and partly the bodys reaction to a drop in blood volume (its very sensitive in some people so that just a 10ml sample for a blood test will make a difference). Tell them next time before they take blood and they will put you on a couch laying down which will help stop it happening; |
