I gave blood about two weeks ago and my arm is still bruised, is this normal?

I donated blood about two weeks ago. The nurse missed my vein the first time and instead of taking the needle out and starting over she probed under my skin until she found the vein. She kept moving the needle in my arm through the whole process. I was in extreme pain the whole time and could barely stand it. The next day my arm was black and blue at the injection site, but now about two weeks later that bruising at that spot has gone away. Now my vein going about half way down my arm is bruised and extremely painful. I sometimes get sharp pains in my arm too. It is starting to worry me that something could be wrong...any help is appreciated!

Appears to be like a double puncture while drawing the blood. But a severe pain persisting even after two weeks after the blood drawal, is suggestive of any development of a thrombophlebitis. Please see your Doctor for necessary treatment immediately.

For me it is normal, as I have deep veins so they have trouble finding them. The pain is due to the inflammation of the bruise resting on the nerve but it will clear up eventually. Likewise you can go and see a Doc. Best of Luck
