How do I wean my daughter? |
she is 20 months old. i want to wean her before she is two. as of now she is nursing only for naps and bedtime. i would also like to know what i'm supposed to do when my breasts get full as i'm going through the weaning process? they will start to hurt. how do i get rid of the milk? I weaned my daughter when she was about 15 months. We did it cold turkey. I didn't give in. We gave her a bottle with whole milk to drink. She'll get used to it. After some crying, she'll drink from the bottle and will eventually like it. About your breasts, I only pumped with a manual pump a little bit (less than ounce) just to ease the engorgement pain. Don't get a lot out of it since you're trying to stop them from filling up again. I did take some Motrin just to help with the pain. After two days or so, it was over. The slower you wean, the gentler it will be on her AND on your body. Going slowly and gently should help you avoid having bad engorgement. It took me 2 days for the pain. Some people took longer. I tried not to take any drugs for the pain. What I did was squeeze some out when it was too painful. Good for you last this long. good luck. To get your daughter from breastfeeding, you can give her a sippy when she goes to bed instead of breastfeeding her.... Pump your milk and put it in a bottle for her. You can buy a breast pump from any pharmacy. This extracts the milk so you don't hurt. when you start weaning your daughter, while your breasts get fuller and fuller, i will spin you around to where you are facing me, and then i will milk them for you. |
