Healing sore nipple from a bite? |
My 1 year old is teething and he bit me while nursing, drawing blood. The bleeding has stopped (it was just a small cut), but it is still very sore. What things can I do to help the healing process, and try and ease the soreness. I agree with the Lansinoh and the breastmilk. Breastmilk is "good for what ails ya" - a bit of a cure all! It's good for cuts, for pink eye, you name it. Lansinoh will help soothe and moisturize the nipple and is safe for baby so you can use it at any time - you don't have to worry if you're about to nurse and want to put some on. Lanolin, ice, and tylenol, and nursing. Keep nursing. Your milk has antibodies in it that will speed the healing process. Lansinoh cream not only will help the soreness, it will protect it from infection and help it heal, and will allow your baby to nurse from it without causing you much pain. You could also try expressing a little bit of milk, and putting it on your nipple where the cut is. I had cracked sore nipples (which bled) when I was first learning to nurse, and breastmilk & lanolin helped me a lot. udder-cream |
