Nursing calculation IV drop rate?

can someone please explain in detail step by step the process to working out IV drop rates per hour and per minute. ive seen so many different ways and its just confused me.

i have a test comin up no calculator and has to be 100% or fail

primary say 500ml N.S. over 5 hours. The bag of tubing says 10 gtt.
500ml times 10gtt divided by 5hours times 60 minutes.
(gtt is always in minutes, so you must multiply by 60 to get there)
secondary is the same except, antibiotics are usually given over a course of less than one hour, no need to mult. by 60.

Usually the pump does it for you so you can avoid errors
