You are out in the middle of nowhere. Both have been in their profession for 5 years. Who would you rather have operate on you. Hopefully the PA has worked in general surgery and has scrubbed on several appy's, has a good grasp of anatomy, and knows how to operate and work the anesthesia at the same time. I won't even mention having sterile instruments and antibiotics... My answer doesn't endorse PA's over NP's. I'm not even sure NP's who work on surgery actually go to the OR. It's different training. Anyway it takes MORE than one person to operate...guess some people didn't get the sarcasm in the first paragraph. Report It a physican! |
