Should I be an Astronaut or a Pediatrician?

My parents want me to be a nurse or Pediatrician since they make alot of money, I do like working with kids and all but I also like to be an Astronaut even though if they don't make that much money? Which I don't know yet. But I enjoy learning about planets and space more. Like Stargate! They go to planets and stuff. I also like stargazing...

I dunno...
Which one do you think is a better profession for me?

My dad owns a plane (2004 Cirrus SR-22 G2) and my dad usually lets me pilot the plane sometimes.

Does driving a Cirrus SR-22 G2 count?

Being an astronaut is a serious issue that takes steadfast dedication. You better be willing to give up everything else in your life to persue this dream. Astronauts usually start off in the military as aviation pilots and officers. Be prepared to have a post graduate degree. Remember you are up against extremely gifted scholars when it comes to being an astronaut. You don't have to be an astronaut though if you like astronomy. Their is also astronomers, cosmologists, astrophysicists, ect..
Both the jobs you are speaking of are very rewarding jobs. I'm sure the pay rates of astronauts and pediatricians are very comparable. Just do a little research on each and find out what sort of qualifications it takes to do the kind of job you want. Hope this helps. Goodluck!

DO what you enjoy but also get a reality check- if you become an astronot you probly wont go into space and might get a minor roll. Same with pediatrician.

Why not become both and deliver the first baby born in outer space.

Sounds to me like you could do a version of both. Become a research doctor, join Nasa. The best of both worlds.

I think working for NASA would be awesome. But let's be serious here. Very few people in this world get the opportunity to be an astronaut. You have to be better than the best. You pretty much have to walk on water and glow in the dark to get that job. If studying planets is what interests you, then do it. But know that you may not end up being an astronaut. You may have to settle for teaching science at a college or something. I'm not trying to burst your bubble, I just think you need to think about this realistically.

If you have to ask... Podiatrist.

Just kidding... I don't know how old you are but if your not in collage yet, just keep muddling forward. A background in science medicine and mathematics will benefit both career tracks so you can make the final decision later.

You may also want to make a decision about piloting a space ship. While mission specialists can now be engineers, scientists, doctors and many other professions, if you actually think you want to pilot a spacecraft you will have to make a decision right after high school. This is because you're going to need air force fighter pilot and then test pilot experience before applying to NASA.

However, If you don't feel the need to actually pilot the ship, just keep studying away in both tracks. NASA is not going to look down upon your mission specialist qualifications if you are already an RN or Pediatrician... It could only help!!!

Both are really great choices that would give you a meaningful life.

But you have to think about not every astronaut will get the chance to be in space. I don't know what all guide lines are. But don't let this stop you at fullfilling your dreams. Its not what your parents want its what you want. If you never get the chance to go into space im sure you'd really enjoy working with Nasa and their technology. Its a great thing to be apart of and only the selected few will be in that career field.

If you are good with kids and you dont mind the endless schooling you will need then yes..pediatrician is a great field t

Both of your choices are making dramatic improvements in technology and ideas everyday. I dont know how old you are? Maybe you should do research on both of your choices and write to pros and cons that work for you best. Chat with people your age that want to be astronauts and pediatricians. Learn their struggles, learn their passion and desire for this. Keep an open mind and if you dont think your on the right career path then dont worry. Take your time deciding and let nothing stop you.

You have a much better chance of being a doctor than you do of going into space. But decide if you'd be happy being an astronomer and not going into space, because that's a lot more attainable of a goal.

It is a decision you alone can make as you're going to determine your future. If you're good at both field, choose what you like better as money cannot bring you everything that you need.

It appears that you have a passion for aeronautics. You may want to consider engineering for starters,

Whichever career you know you would enjoy more. Both are good career choices but I personally think that being a pediatrician might be a little boring [same thing day after day].

All depends, they both sound like they could be a lot of fun. Here's something to consider - whether or not you can stand being around little kids and germs every day or whether you could stand working in an office.Pick what you think sounds better.Do a lot of research. And if you're good at budgeting your money, your income won't be a problem.
