USMC for me? |
I've always envisioned myself as a Marine. My father was a Marine and my mom was in the Air Force. I also have numerous family members with an ARMY background. No other branches of the military appeal to me like the USMC does. But I'm questioning my future career after the service.. I would love to be a nurse.. I find the human body to be a beautiful form of life.. I could join the Navy to learn more about that profession. At the same time, technology is an outstanding professional field and in the future it will be even more demanding!! I can fulfill a technology career in the USMC. But I'm still questioning wheather or not to enlist. Although I have this huge poster from the USMC on my bedroom wall. Also, I am a female so I wouldn't be in any ground combat either. Which sucks because thats what really really attracts me to the military anyways. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Join the Marines. Find the answer within yourself ~~ for only you can answer this question ~~ Go to a USMC recruiter and tell them exactly what you have told us. You might get college $$$ to send you to get your nursing degree through the Marines. It's a huge decision because it will affect the rest of your life. But if you feel you want to go Marine Corp, then research the issue and make an informed decision yourself. Also check out what the other branches offer. Technical careers are more abundant in the Air Force and Navy in case you decide against Nursing and want a different career opportunity. I've always been a strong proponent of doing something in the Military that can give you a career after your Military life, and the Marine Corp doesn't offer a whole lot of Civilian Career equilivants, and neither does the Army. the USMC is not for Evey one i was a cor men in the navy and now work in a er in new york city.the job is one i would never had done if not for the navy.(and the USMC is a part of the navy)just do not tell the rec. that.(lol) the USMC does not have a nursing it is done by navy men and Lady's You need to do what will make you happy. Only you know the answer..... I spent 23 years in the marines, and asked my self many times why , as the other branches are so much easier, but, I was always to proud of being a marine to join any other branch as I feel the marine corps is for men , real men, and the women who join must be real women or they won;t make it. so ask your self would you be proud to serve in another branch just because it is easier if so then stay home, I feel the marines are better trained and better fighters as they could always go in another branch if they wanted it easy, I feel the pride makes them better, I'm with Ares on this one (first responder, very simple to the point and on the money answer) I agree, it sucks that we can't serve our country in combat. That makes that honor reserved for men. It attracts me too. That sucks. I think you should join. There's nothing more admirable. If you go to Iraq, email me. I've always wanted to email a soldier. Good luck. Join the marines, you'll feel like you missed out if you don't. Well, obviously I am a LITTLE biased. It is good that you are thinking about your future if you decide not to re-enlist. But, it does sound like you already have a good idea where your going to end up. No matter what you decide, best of luck to you. You could always be a green side corpsman. That way you get to work with the Marines and learn medical skills. I always thought of our docs as Marines, hell they were always in the thick of it with us. When I was in bootcamp there were other Women who were from other Services. Mostly Army- The wanted to be part of the The Few, the Proud, the Marines. |
