What do you think of female cops? Is it better to become a paramedic or a cop? |
Basically im trying to take an informal poll to see what people think about female police officers. I'm thinking of switching my major from nursing to criminal justice. I'm aware that some people hold a misconception that female officers are butch/lesbians. if your talking about strippers dressing up as cops then im all for it, but make sure the handcuffs are fuzzy If you want to be a cop you should save your money on criminal justice classes. You don't need those to be a cop. All you need is a small brain and an attitude. I can't see a woman doing that. Or F.B.I. or C.I.A. or National Security. It points to the fact men aren't owning up to their responsibilities. Have perved, and are manipulative putting women center stage to work through. Wierd. The Soviets use to, and I think the Red Chinese do that too. I think it depends on how much safety risk you are willing to take on. This is the question you must answer. Crazy people shoot cops. They have divorce and sometimes suicide rates. PLEASE become an EMT - for the sake of your own safety. You can always become a cop afterwards if you want, but being an EMT is a MUCH safer job. Paramedic-- PLEASE- pay is the same, advancement is more likely and you don't have to put up with the corruption that exist in the legal field. As a paramedic you'll be helping people everyday...As a cop...maybe once in a week-mostly just doing harm or getting harmed. The paramedic sounds more rewarding. But that's just me. You're the one doing it. If you're in good shape, and have an aggressive personality, the cop thing might be O.K. for you. Be a cop, more money in the long run. I think that the stereotype that all women cops are lesbian/butches. well, u get more if ur a doc, so im guessing Paramedics are better. but female paramedics would be a bit better cuz females tend to have a more caring character than guys (no offense to guys. im not saying there arent any caring guys just the minority are caring ppl) I'll give you an honest answer, and mean no disrespect for you or anyone else (female) out there... i would go for paramedic. cops suck. youll be brainwashed. you ll have to arrest people for stupid **** when there are real criminals out there just because they have a damn quota. I respect cops and paramedics. Personally I would prefer to be a paramedic...regardless of gender issues. However, if your motivation is pay and advancement, being a police officer maybe a better route. Paramedics are either EMTs or full paramedics....there's not much advancement from that (from what I know). I work at a hospital and meet a lot of cops AND paramedics when they come through the ER. And both jobs can be dangerous...but they are both very honorable and complex jobs. Police officers are needed but Paramedics are needed more. Both save lives. Being a cop is quite dangerous, especially for a woman because of the reflex requirement. Paramedics saved my life twice in 19 months. Guess it's a matter of you wanting to use your brain or your brawn. Both professions are admirable. How's your nerves? I'm in the application process to become a cop. Basically, you gotta like the job and forget about the rumors that people pass around. I know a lot of nice female officers who are married and with kids, they're just women doing their job. I have found that almost every female cop I have dealt with has something to prove and lets their power go straight to their heads. But this isn't the case every time. My brother is a cop and says that the female cops always are the last to show, even if they are the closest and free. As long as you don't abuse the power and hesitate you should be fine as a cop. Just learn how to shoot worth a darn. I worked at a range where the local cops practiced, and the women couldn't handle their weapons. So learn to shoot too. I think female cops have to be more aggressive and work twice as hard to get the same job done and recognition as a male cop which makes them come off as BUTHC. Traditional society and history shows us that women are more emotional, needing to be taken care of by a man and this is when the red boots & cape come out so a guy can be a hero. As much as a guy dislikes a woman in a certain role given the circumstnace he will play the big, might hereo (That's wired into a man). However, as society changes and taboos in the workforce are erased things do become much better. I work with police officers and both EMTs. Honestly, a paramedic is better for women. I just don't see women as strong enough to be cops. Most of the female cops in my city are kind of fat and weak. Nursing school to medic school is really just a lateral shift. You'll still be in the medical field with a very comparable level of training, but you'll be providing more of an emergency, field level of care as opposed to a longer term, more supportive level of care. I'm a medic. I considered both nursing school and medic school. They were about the same length and cost and difficulty. I decided that being a medic was more appealing to me. |
