So TORN!!!?

I really want a career in which I help others. I'm very well learned in about every class except for science( chemistry only) I an looking at a career in nursing or dental hygiene and would like to hear from others in these two professions. Any input is great. Just gimme the real deal...

P.s I also have a 3 yr old and so the decision has to do somewhat with flexible hours as well as description of work.
Thankx pplz...

Go back to school and get your Degree in Nursing. They need Nurses Now!! and will need even more (everywhere) in the future, plus it pays well. I enjoy helping others and so I know what you mean. Don't let you child stop you from your dream. I know he come first....so does my kids, but I also know it's only a small sacrifice we must endure until I finish. Getting your degree to better your self is putting him first, because you plan on living comfortable together. So it's worth the time/effort and pays off in the Long Run!!

Be Blessed...

I know people in these fields and I can tell you without a doubt that you will have much more time with your children if you become a dental hygienist. Working at a nursing home is a 24-hour job... and when you are new, guess who gets the graveyard shifts? Now consider the hours of a dentist... they're usually done by 5:00 p.m. and many do NOT work weekend hours. Since your family life is important, go with the position that will give you not only the time with your family, but more money to go with it!

The RN position will pay significantly more, but as the previous answer stated, you will be working much longer hours. You may also need to move for an RN position. But some parts of the nation are so desparate for nurses, the rates of pay start at 50-60k and go up rapidly.
