What did you want to be, when you grew up, and are you?

Do you remember being asked this as a child? Did you ever
come close to going into the vocation as an adult? Did you
even try? Or did it no longer matter?
I wanted to be a nurse. But got the idea out of my system
after 1 & a half years as a nurses aide during and after HS.
I got too involved and cared too much. Not the best of 'skills'
for that profession I discovered. Though, I was well thought of.
Even by the RN who was my boss.

I wanted to be a teacher, and I am.

Musician, somewhat. My parent's discouraged this and I listened to them, unfortunately.

A soldier. I wanted to become a hero winning glorious battles.

I won some battles.......

A ballerina, piano player, or a doctor.

Ballerina - No, I have an old knee injury that limits me from participating in most sports or hobbies such as ballet.

Piano Player - I play the piano but only at school and at home, not professionally. So much to learn and I don't really want to go into music anymore. I just focus on enjoying it on my own.

Doctor - Not yet but I just received my acceptance letter to the pre-medical program at Baylor University. Almost there unless I change my mind. Plus I love doing volunteer work at the neaby Children's Hospital.

I watched my youngest brother die from cystic fibrosis,I wanted to be a pulmonary therapist. No life caught me and I went the wrong way.The 70's was hippie and free love.I got into that groove and worked at jobs I hated.I am a care giver at heart and want to get out on my own,but need the comfort of knowing my salary.Good question.

Married, nurse. Did them both. Never liked nursing and let my license go years ago. Married, big success at that. Accomplished that many times.

I wanted to be a wife and a mother and guess what ! I am one

That's easy, A Farmer like my dad. and Yes I am .

An artist. And yes, I am.

I always wanted to be an archaeologist. Now I am a gypsy.

I wanted to be an artist and make my living by drawing and painting. Didn't happen. I became a hairdresser and then an office worker. My artistic abilities are only used to draw pictures for my grandchildren now.

It didn't really matter to me as an adult. What will be, will be. Childhood dreams are only wishful thinking and don't have much to do with the reality of earning a living.

I wanted to be a nurse or a stewardess. ( back then a flight attendant was a stewardess) That changed and I wanted to be a housewife and not have to work outside the home. No, I was never any of these. I worked for 48 years in other professions.

when i was little i wanted to be a rig pig just like my dad and my grampa.but when i got bigger i just wanted to own a drilling rig like my grampa.but i will be an oil feild medic in less than 16 months and the pay is pretty close to what a derrick hand makes on a drilling rig.

A flight attendant
No, I am a psychologist. I tend to not analyze myself a lot though.LOL.

I wanted to be a scientist, and at one time a fireman, a dental hygienist and later in high school wanted to become a nun. parents were proud of me that I won school science contests but at the time there were school loans but my parents told me they made too much for me to qualify for a loan. Later they said they were broke (I don't think so) but told me I had a choice of cosmetology or art school. At the time all I ever heard about was starving artists so i chose cosmetology, and that was a very long time ago, and then I went into business.

A nurse, and no I am not. Ended up taking classes at a vocational school for another career.

as I'm only 60 i have not finished growing up yet,do we ever? being serious when i was a boy i wanted to join the military as that seemed to be a natural choice for most male members of my family,i followed my father who had spent 24 years in the royal marines into the military and that was that for the next 23 years, did i achieve all that i wanted, yes i think i did as i have no regrets, following that i became a bodyguard for the next 18 years and did things i never imagined (all good)all in all a full life so far with most of my ambitions fulfilled, next stop is to see more of America as a tourist, happy days.

Yes I always wanted to be a teacher.

Well, I always wanted to be a teacher. I was for a few years, but I really didn't like it. I can't believe I spent my entire life wanting to be something and I didn't like it. If I had stuck with it longer, it might have turned out better, but there weren't a lot of jobs at the time and it didn't seem worth fighting over.

I have to say that the other thing I wanted to be was a wife and mother. That, I must admit, has been the best. The very, very, very best.

I wanted to be whatever my big brother was doing and when I do grow up -I want to be a welder.

They wife said I grew up to be the world's biggest Hemorrhoid

I wanted to be an FBI cryptographer, a missionary, or a roller derby skater. I work as a waitress so I dodge things, I counsel people on some weird problems and I try to figure out what people are telling me they want. LOL

I wanted to be a scientist or a teacher. I became a science teacher.

My fifth grade teacher ( a nun) had about 40 students, so she assigned me my own group of about 10 kids.
That is how I knew I loved teaching, but when I think back on it now, I realize how terrible that was of her to do.

I wanted to be a teacher, but my Mom insisted I should be a nurse. She was a nurse and loved it. She would not pay for any courses except the ones needed for nursing.

So, I became a nurse. Hated it sooo much! Ended up working as a nurse long enough to pay off the loan Mom had taken to help pay for my school. Then, walked away from it.

I got to teach in a setting where it wasn't required that I have the credentials, as long as I had the knowledge necessary to teach my subject. I absolutely loved that job. Went to work singing every day. Lasted for about 3 years before situations changed & I needed to do something else.

An Interior Decorator. My mother thought it was a ridiculous idea. And my parents wouldn't pay for me to attend college -- just for my brothers.

No, I am not an interior decorator.

Got to laugh I wanted to be a
nun
nurse
a model
a pole dancer from one who keeps falling off tables!
then I hit the jack pot I wanted to be an angel and here i am x

I always loved doing things for people and taking care of them. More so kids than any other age. I am still working on doing that to this day. I have been taking care of some elderly or sick folks from time to time while working other jobs at the same time.

I still want to be a foster mom so bad and some day I will do just that.

when i was 3 i wanted to be a native ballerina...not trying to be racist...i was 3

A millionaire. I didn't make it!

You had atough job as a nurse..I respect them. I wanted to be a mechanic as a kid, and that turned out. Also wanted a beautiful wife and that turned out. And children too, and came true. Also beautiful grand kids, and have two. Boy and girl!! LOve of my life! I loved racing cars ,so i did that. Loved flying so did that. I guess i have done everthing i wanted to do. I am very lucky, dont you think? Im 72 years young and still doing things i always wanted to do. Hope i dont run out of things to do!! Have a great life!!

I always wanted to be an attorney, since I was in grade school. My dads attorney was a family friend and I respected him alot. I love the law...

I wanted to drive tanks and no i never did. I became a mother i think the army would have been easier.
