Is SSN important in finding a job?

I already passed the Licensed Vocational Nurse. Everytime I applied to any hospitals or convalescent, they asked of my SSN, I don't have it, and until now I am jobless. I know that this country is in need of nurses, but here I am willing to help and use my profession, was not albe to have an oppurtunity, I am really depressed.

By "SSN' I am guessing that you refer to a person's social security number. Yes it is important, but there are ways around that. If you have a green card, or some other state of national identification, then you should be able to get a job. I would advise you to go to a Social Security office and ask them for help. They should be able to help you. A temporary job service, especially one that deals in finding jobs for nurses would be a help as well.

If you don't have a social security card how were you able to go to school cause every college I have at least went to you had to have a social security number to get student loans and grants. So yes you do need a number to get a job or else they are not going to hire you if you are not a U.S citizen to pay tax dollars into ss.

Yeah. Definitely need a SSN.
That is how they pay your salary, do criminal checks, etc.
If you passed the licensed vocational nurse (test/exam/class), then somebody somewhere should be able to help either getting you a social security number or other such identity number.
You should have some sort of identity, Something on a Visa card?
