I saw an obituary of a renowned plastic surgeon and then I had a thought? |
I had a thought that it doesn't matter what you were because now you're dead. Does it really matter that a man was a surgeon when one is in the nursing home or dead? What do you think of the meaning of our professions in light of the fact that we'll end up like everyone else in the nursing homes and/or die? Philosophical answers would be appreciated. yea, death is the big equalizer. or something like that, i think thats the saying though. i think professions only matter in the present, and even then superficially, but what really matters is what kind of person you are and what effect you have on others. because when you die, no one is going to care that you were a great teacher in terms of the job itself, like teaching history, but it matters how many people you have impacted. yep, welcome to the world lol! While you are living your actions set into motion other actions. The world is different on some level because of your life. Death may be the end of one's life but the effects of that life live on. Think of Civil Rights workers, Firefighters, Presidents, Teachers, Murderers, Criminals, Judges, etc. It is my opinion that the effects of these lives that work in these professions and more, leave lasting effects after retirement and death. i still havent seen the robots that require surgery, but i bet if they were metal even if it does rust they would last longer than a plastic one How much money he made or how luxurious his lifestyle are now irrelevant. However whatever he did to help society is enduring. Let me make sure that I got what you are trying to say correct. if he has descendants they will flout more that their venerable ancestor was a surgeon rather than if he had been a street sweeper. .I would say be positive. Buy yourself a large Ice Cube Tray. When you go just have yourself Frozen. You will be able to keep coming back indefinitely. Also this way you will be able to take it with you! As an added benefit all your bill collectors will have by then written off all your past financial obligations. Enjoy the future. BOB The keyword is legacy. |
