Can a nurse work as a stripper in her spare time??

Can a nurse work in a strip club? My friend is a nurse and works part time in a strip club some weekends. She gets paid more there in one night than a week on the wards. Could this be classed as bringing the medical profession into disrepute? I'm not bothered but I wouldn't want her to lose her job shes a great nurse.

What she does in her spare time is her own business and no one elses. As long as she is off duty at the time, there is no problems.

I dunno, she could be in trouble if she went on as a a nurse and stripped her work uniform off. I'm sure there are a few nurses that need to have a second job to supplement their meagre earnings.

She would have to check with human resources if she is allowed to do another job, does it take her hours over the legal limit and if so what she could or could not, her contract may state this or any documents from the royal college of nurses, if she is a member.

Nurses used to be poorly paid, about 25 years ago, but now they seem to get a "catch up" wage rise every other year.

This would be classed as bringing the medical proffession into disrepute. Part of the nurses charter states that a nurse is supposed to show a good impression of the medical proffesion and your friend could actually be fired if the hospital trust finds out, the same goes for nurses who binge drink or are caught speeding which is why police officers have to tell the nursing council if they stop a nurse for speeding or commiting a crime.

I would try and make some discrete inquirers,I don't think that the Royal School of Nursing would agree, and if her supervisors or what ever you call them are not open minded they could make trouble, and of coarse you have the jealousy part as if she is hot enough to do stripping then I am sure there are some of the other nurses who would be jealous of her looks.

Whether you approve or not (and it sounds as though you don't) is not relevant. What is more relevant is that simple fact that a stripper CAN and DOES earn more than a nurse. Don't you think that there is something wrong here.

Yes, she is risking her job by doing something so degrading.

Strip clubs are a sex industry, and it's sad that your friend thinks so little of herself that she decided to work in one.

Only women with EXTREMELY low sense of self-esteem would make that choice.

The sex industry is very profitable. Why choose to be a stripper in the first place? money? your friend cannot go far if she does that only for money. What I mean is that she may fell very degraded if she does it only for money. To do it she need to have pleasure of what she does and if your friend find pleasure and that well the bottom as been reached. yes she may have money but she has lost the most important thing. Self respect. Because it is just an object of pleasure. Nurse it is a very respectful job.

In the US a few years ago, several nurses posed semi nude--long story short--ALL were fired.

No. Why should she has to do that. If she want to become an nusre so be it and if she likely to become a stripper then let it be. I guess paid for the wages is not that matter as it just money isn't it? We work the thing that we like to do and can do. We all know that. :)
