What is the difference between malpractice and negligence?

i really dont understand the difference. if you can tell me in a way that it relates to a healthcare profession (i.e., doctor, nurse, etc) that would be really helpful because im majoring in a health profession.

Malpractice is doing something that will harm somebody.(Like giving the wromg medicine)
Negligence is not giving or doing something that would be beneficial.
(Like not giving someone proper medicine she needs)

Improper or unethical conduct by the holder of a professional or official position.
The act or an instance of improper practice.

Therefore....negligence can be performed by anyone or anything. Malpractice is basically performed by one in a medical or professional field.

For example, a mother leaving her child in a hot car is negligent. A doctor practicing unethical practices that causes you harm in an act of being negligent is malpractice.

Negligence is the failure to do something that was required.
While Malpractice is doing something that was required incorrectly. That is the difference in the simplest way, I know how to describe it.
