How do I answer a question like Why do you want to be a nurse?

My primary reason right now and what I most want to say is Nursing is a great profession with great financial benefits. Secondary reason is I get to help people.
HOW DO I ANSWER THIS QUESTION WITHOUT SOUNDING MONEY GREEDY?

Of course you can't be a good nurse unless you get pleasure out of helping people. That would be a true answer.

There is nothing wrong with saying that you want to be a nurse because it pays well (does it?). In fact, an employer would prefer that you like the money and other financial benefits. That way the employer knows you will not readily kiss off the job if the going gets rough--'cause you need the money.

(If you follow Melanie's advice, just make sure you spell "affecting" and "it's" correctly.)

You should pray about this and then do as the Lord leads you to. It is important that you really have a desire to be able to help people both physically and spiritually.

It is great if you are willing to listen to others. Report It

just say: its rewarding to see how your help is directly effecting other people. its rewarding in more than just a lucrative sense.

There is a huge nursing shortage right now and I really would hate to discourage you but do you have any idea of how hard nursing is? Have you spoken to real live nurses that have worked for a few years. This is not a profession where one gets rich, unless you go on to be a Physicians Assistant or something. If the answer to that question isn't burning inside of you, perhaps you should research this profession a little bit more. . .

Don't confuse financial benefit with greed.

If you are making choices that benefit you at someone elses expense - that is greed.

Your motives sound fine to me - you have nothing to defend.

Just be honest, yeah money is great..but helping people is a greater accomplishment, and knowing it's something u have acheived!

Use the term "job security" since there is a shortage of nurses and jobs will be plentiful.
