Can someone please critique the following for me, and perhaps help me in any rough areas please? I would realy

appreciate it..............................

Thank you in advance.

My perceptions of the nursing profession................

Nursing is a profession that takes a special unique individual whom has compassion and a gently touch. They have a gentle smile and are soft spoken, someone that you can count on, to be there when you are afraid. She or he will be there in the middle of the night to easy your worries and discomfort. When you are feeling ill she will at your bedside, assisting you. Whether it is a gentle smile, someone to talk to, bathe you, dress your wounds, hold you up when you are weak, and taking care of your hygiene. She or he is someone that is commited to assisting and caring for the young and old, in infancy or your last days................................This is my opening paragraph how does it sound? I know it sounds really rough in areas. and can use some extra help as I tried to work on this for over 2 hours and this is what I came up with.

Your grammar is really bad! Plus, there is no unifying idea. Nurses do much more than hold hands and help you - they perform and assist with complicated medical procedures and must be well-versed in medicines, their effects and complications; illnesses and expected signs and symptoms; and recovery and recuperation. I would advise you to add that nurses need to be medical professionals AS WELL AS the caregivers you describe. That is what makes nurses so special and the career so difficult.

Just fixing the grammar of your paragraph, it would look something like this:

Nursing is a profession that requires a special individual [note all individuals are unique] who [nominative case, not accusative] has compassion and a gentle touch. She [pronoun-antecedent agreement] must possess a gentle smile and be soft-spoken, someone who you can count on and who will be there when you are afraid. She or he will be there in the middle of the night to ease your worries and discomfort. When you are feeling ill, she will be at your bedside assisting you. Whether it is talking with you, bathing you, dressing your wounds, holding you up when you are weak, or taking care of your hygiene, nurses will be there smiling. Nurses are committed to caring for the young and the old, from infancy to our last days.
