Am I going to lose my Nursing licence?

I'm from Nevada and I haven't been practicing my nursing licence for about 2 years now. To be able to renew a licence, one must have practiced nursing within 5 years. I'm currently in a different profession right now, but plannning to go back to medical field, but probably not to a hospital. I came so far and I do not want to lose my licence, but I need to generate more income to support my expenses, so I want to start my own business in home health or an agency, but am I going to lose my licence eventually because I'm not practicing ? any advise would be great. thanks!

I am a Canadian trained nurse living in the US. I keep my Canadian licence valid by doing a few shifts there during the summer and CEUs.

What you should do is contact the nevada board of registration for nurses and see what the continuing education requirements are to re instate your licence. ( they require 30 hours) see below

Then go to www.ceu.com do one of the courses online to meet the requirements

. Also sign up with an agency and do a few shifts per month . that would keep your skills current and add some money to your bottom line.

hope it helps.

IT sounds to me like you have three years to start practicing again.

You need to call the State Board of Nursing for Nevada and find out what the requirements for licensure is. Continuing education courses may be potentially a sticking point. Even if you haven't practiced as a nurse are you meeting the licensure requirements for continuing education? This could potentially affect your ability to operate a home health agency as it would require a licensed nurse.
