What are the current trends in nursing as a profession? |
What are the current trends in nursing as a profession? As a nurse, it is my hope you are asking this because you are interested in nursing. As the babyboom generation is retiring, more nurses are moving into new and exciting directions and there are less nurses in education, there is a massive nursing shortage which will only get worse before it gets better. This shortage results in high and sometimes dangerous patient/nurse ratios. As a result, nursing is moving in a fabulous direction. Nurses are earning more, and can usually pick their position. However, it is not an easy job, you work for every cent you make, and at all times must be on your toes, as people's lives often depend on you. There is a long term nursing shortage. It will probably get worse before it gets better. Wages are going up and so is the workload. Depends on what you want. |
