Nursing profession and fractured bones?

i wana now what is the role of nursing with fractured bones
treatment care any web stie hv good info. about the role of nursing with fracure bone
thnx for any help

Well, for a nurse it's basic first aid, pain management, preparation of possible surgery, followup, teaching

First Aid - The nurse would splint and immobilized fractured bone; NPO status for patient (nothing to eat or drink).

Pain - After seeing the doctor, the patient would expect to receive pain medication from the nurse

Prep for surgery - If necessary, after seeing an orthopedic doctor, the nurse would prepare the patient for surgery. That's where NPO status is important because patient would be at risk of aspiration of gastric contents in the operating room.

Teaching - Nurse would teach patient to keep affected injured site immobilized, teaching use of mobilization equipment (crutches), warning signs of complications with casting (ie compartment syndrome) etc...

Nurses do a lot.
