Nursing profession? |
I am thinking of transferring paths to nursing. I am currently a business student with a 3.2 gpa. I really like helping people and am interested in biology. The only thing is that I have a class A misdemenor charge on my record from when I got drunk at a party and road someones bike home, I was followed and arrested for theft. Will that be a big issue when getting hired for nursing positions? I was informed that since it was my first offense it would not normally show up on my record only for health care, and Federal professions. Thanks for your answers.... A misdemeanor may not be a problem as far as state Registration goes. However, a lot of employers may not like the look of your record. I don't believe a misdemeanor will be a problem. A felony would be a problem. If you want to be absolutely sure, you could check with the board of nursing in your state. Good luck. a misdemenor shouldn't be a problem.....how old were you when this crime was committed? It can possible be expunged. You should still go into Nursing. Are you in California? California has a list of felonies that would prevent a person from being able to get a nursing license. When I went to nursing school, my instructor was emphatic that we reveal any and all activity that may show up on a background check. I didn't have anything myself but there were others. She said that it would not necessarily disqualify a person, but if a person lied on the documents which were forwarded to the state's Dept of Justice for a investigation into the person's background. It is all for the best because they have the patient's interest at heart. Hey,here's my advice You need to check with your state board of nursing, they will be able to answer this for you. |
