Can my pediatrician classify ADD? Also is the medication expensive? Please Thank Your Help? |
I would like to go to a psychiatrist but its too much cash. My mom just got laid off from nursing. I really never met my dad. And we don't qualify for any assistance programs. Don't say its a made up disease you don't know whats its like... I sit their try to finish my homework closing my television. I try and try. I sit their literally moving around from one subject to another 3 hours later barely anything is finished. I've tried everything. My guidance couselor even recommended getting diagnosed. Yes, your pediatrician can definitely diagnose your ADD. You will need to call your Dr. and tell them that you need diagnosed for ADD. They normally do this only certain times of the month. So there may be a small waiting period. The price of the prescription can very from different insurance agencies. Most of the prescriptions that they first start you out on are usually 50$ month. But your mom can check in with her insurance agency for a cheaper medication once you are diagnosed. I have a 10 year old son who has ADD. We tried for 5yrs to help him out with out the meds. It did NOT work. Life is so much easier on him with the meds. So don't let anybody tell you it's a made up disease. Good luck. And take care. In the state of Ohio a ped can only reffer you to a dr to diagnose you of this disease. Many dr offices all over the united states do have a sliding scale fee. Get out your phone book, a pad of paper, and a pen and start calling every psyc dr you can and explain you situation and ask about pricies, if they do a sliding scale fee due to income, and if they dont if maybe you could make payments. Good luck sweetie, my 5 year old son has been diagonsed with ADHD and I have ADD and am currently taking Adderall XR for this. Hang in there. Sorry, Sweetness, but your school would love you to be diagnosed with anything because they get much needed funding if they can put a student on the handicapped list...and yes, Ritilin is expensive & very dangerous to the neuro-system, as well as your teeth, in the mean time. |
