How can you overcome a low undergraduate GPA from over 11 years ago?

I really would like to become a teacher, but I had a low undergrad GPA of about 2.4. I had thought nursing was for me and did not do well in chemistry and anatomy classes. Plus I had some deaths in my family during sophomore year which really messed me up. I am wiser now and know I can do well if I can just get admitted into a teacher certification program. Any advice?

Maybe you could start by taking some classes at a community college just to get yourself back into taking classes again. This could give you a fresh start with your GPA, and it will help you decide if you are certain that you want to go through a teaching certification program.

Good luck!

I think there's not much you can do, except to show now that you're wiser. If there are interviews available, you should definitely do that... essays, letters, anything that will enhance you as a candidate. Maybe talk about what you did after you left college.
