Is it alright to become sexually active with a single mom early on in a relationship?

I am 26, recently finished with my masters in engineering, and recently have been dating this wonderful girl. She's 24, in a nursing program, and a single mother of 1 little boy whose 3 years old. I guess the father is no where to be seen in the picture. I never thought I would ever date a single mom but I met her through a friend and just really like her and her son a lot.

She recently expressed a desire to start having sex, and I told her I want to wait. She respects this, and told me that whenever I'm ready that she's ready for me. Normally I would have jumped on this, but because she has a kid, I feel a little weird about it, and I don't know if its legitimate or just me freaking out for no reason? We're both mature responsible adults but have only been dating for a couple weeks....

Since you've only been dating a few weeks, I would continue waiting to see where the relationship is going. Single moms have so much more at stake than just their feelings....and it will be so much easier for her to get emotionally attached too quickly.

Continue waiting - it sounds like you really like her and want to make sure it's right before you take it any further.

if you both like each other then go ahead and do it, you're both consenting adults.............just make sure her kid is at a sitter's house the night you guys plan to have sex

Go for it, wat is the kid going to do, just dont give her another kid, use a condom, if she wants it u have to give it to her, this might end ur relationship if u dont go for it.

Don't think of her as being a mom, think of her as a woman. Under it all, were all just human beings who need love and need to express our love through intimacy. It's great that you like her and get along well with her child. That should be plus plus for her already.

You guys have only been dating for a couple of weeks and may not feel comfortable being intimate yet and that is ok. There is no timeline, some people do it that first night and other wait several months. It's what is comfortable for you and her. Good luck.
