Help plz!!!!!.....is there anyone here who knows about the U.S army?

I'm thinking about joining the army this fall but i've heard that it's very hard. Can you please tell me how long they run and how far they go? (up to how many miles?). I can run 5 miles without stopping but i don't know if i can go more than that. What will they do to me if I don't finish running all the laps? will they punish me? and are the punishments horrible? i'm so scared but i really want to join the army and get in the nursing program. HELP PLZ! thank you

I'm 19, 5' 3 tall, size medium

If you can run 5 miles without stopping you will be fine. The "punishments" in basic training is usually just doing more excersie. Also if you were in a nursing program you probably wouldn't ever have to run over the 2.3 miles that is generally the longest run in basic training.

The Army, as one of the three military departments (Army, Navy and Air Force) reporting to the Department of Defense, is composed of two distinct and equally important components: the active component and the reserve components. The reserve components are the United States Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

Regardless of component, The Army conducts both operational and institutional missions. The operational Army consists of numbered armies, corps, divisions, brigades, and battalions that conduct full spectrum operations around the world. (Operational Unit Diagram and descriptions) The institutional Army supports the operational Army. Institutional organizations provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train, equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces. The training base provides military skills and professional education to every Soldier鈥攁s well as members of sister services and allied forces. It also allows The Army to expand rapidly in time of war. The industrial base provides world-class equipment and logistics for The Army. Army installations provide the power-projection platforms required to deploy land forces promptly to support combatant commanders. Once those forces are deployed, the institutional Army provides the logistics needed to support them.

Without the institutional Army, the operational Army cannot function. Without the operational Army, the institutional Army has no purpose...that aside it is a hard life in the Army...once your through your basic training though its ok!!

If you can run 5 miles without stopping you are doing very well. You will get head games played with you in basic, that's what they do. Have thick skin and a nice happy place in your mind to go to. Many have made it. Talk to a recruiter in regards to the work out program. Best of luck to you.

did u not watch the tv program "bad lads army"? it is nearly real army, something are more horrible than that in the real one. why the u.s army, why not our infantry? we are better than them, if u join it, u will think of get out of there as soon as u can, suggestion: join iraqian army, joking.

For running its just like 2 miles in 16 minutes and some odd seconds

The farthest I've run for the army is 7 miles.

Don't worry so much. You're in shape, you're already ahead. They will push you, but they also know how far to go and not more. A lot of it is mental preparation. Don't let them get you down. Good luck. US Army veteran.

hey, take a deep breath and remember what basic training is about - gettin you in shape. you just have to be basically fit so that everyone starts on the same basic platform. the army doesnt sift the physically weak and strong, because after months of training everyone will be strong and ready - they sift the mentally weak, so try ur hardest, and listen to ur instructors, and everything will be fine. just dont think you shouldnt run anymore - the better shape you're in, the greater heights you can reach thru their training.

go to the marines!!!
they r tougher tho

Sorry, what I will say is sure what you don't want to hear, but a true soldier, wouldn't be afraid of following those links, to just see someting ....different than the official version say it is...

Please, give a peek, it's really important you know what really do U.S.Army.

I really try to help you....I really think, you should at least know all of this before....It may help you make a opinion....

This is all well documented...

Young lady after reading your question I can assure you that you will have no problems with the physical rigors of basic training.
