Which is better, be on the waiting list, or have a 50% of getting your major?

I am stuck between two schools now, Trinity Western University and the University of Washington. I was accepted to TWU but I am on the waiting list for the nursing program. And I was accepted to UW, but after you take a year or two of prereqs, you aren't garnunteed to be able to continue to get your major, they are very competitive when you choose to get into upper division. So I am wondering, Is it better to be on the waiting list, and wait to see if a spot opens up for the fall... or go to UW and possibly not be able to finish there to get your major? Anyone who knows about majoring at UW, advice would be helpful, I still don't quite understand how the system works. Also, they said at TWU, usually a few spots open up by the fall, but I don't know how far down the list I am .

At UW, you take prerequisite
science courses for two years. In the spring of your second year, you apply for the nursing program. . . which fewer than 30% of applicants are accepted to.

At TWU, you would have to apply to the nursing program AGAIN next year if you don't get in off the wait list.

Will TWU allow you to postpone making a decision on acceptance until you know for sure you are accepted to the nursing program?

Neither situation is ideal--you could potentially graduate from either college without a nursing degree. (If this happens, you can attend a post-bachelor's program to get your BRN.) I'd go to the school you like best (or, if money is a big issue, the one you can most afford); if you don't get into either nursing program, you can always try to transfer somewhere else--and who knows? Your interests may change anyway. Good luck.

Personally I would go for the sure thing TWU, but if your grades are spectacular and you know you will be in the top 10% of the class go for UW.

Sometimes it's better to play it safe, schools tough enough without having to worry about being able to continue.
